She has mostly been known for her off-beat roles in parallel cinema or her fabulous performance on stage. But Mita Vashisht is as excited about her new role on Zee TV’s and Ekta Kapoor’s Jodha Akbar as she is about her play. “It’s kind of nice to experiment with various mediums,” says the actor, who would be essaying the role of Maha Chuchak, Akbar’s stepmother on the show from this week onward.
Mita will have a “longish” role in the show that has been received well by the audience. “The character that I am portraying has multiple shades, mostly grey and I am sure I’m going to have fun doing it. At the same time, it will also be challenging,” she remarks and adds that her performance is usually very individualistic. “I work with the character and play it as per the resources available. The atmosphere of the set also influences my performance,” she says adding that doing Jodha Akbar is like a homecoming for her.
Earlier, Mita was appreciated for her role as Trisha in Ekta’s Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, in which she played a villain, but with a comical vein. “That was almost six-seven years ago. I had enjoyed working with the Balaji team as much that time as I am enjoying right now,” she concludes.
