Sachiin Joshi returns to Telugu films

Stars in Nee Jathaga Nenundali, the remake of Aashiqui 2

Sachiin Joshi Sachiin Joshi

Sachiin Joshi, who made his Hindi film debut with Azaan, actually began his acting career with Telugu films. However, like any aspirant, Bollywood was his goal. After his second Hindi film Jackpot released, Joshi is now back to Telugu films, with the remake of the Aditya Roy Kapur-Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Aashqui 2. “My friend, producer Bandla Ganesh wanted to make a Telugu film and he happened to acquire the rights of Aashiqui 2. I had worked with him when he was an actor and now he has turned producer. It is for him that I am doing this film titled Nee Jathaga Nenundali. Otherwise, I was not too keen on doing regional cinema. I had earlier acted in a few Telugu films, about seven to eight years back, just to get some experience in films,” said Joshi.
The actor says Nee Jathaga Nenundali has music and songs composed by the same composers, Mithoon, Jeet Ganguly, Ankit Tiwari of Aashiqui 2. “The lyrics, however, are in Telugu,” he said adding, “We have taken the music rights from T-Series and Bhushan Kumar legally.”
The actor is playing a singer for the first time in a film. “ I have tried to get into the character of a singer and have tried to understand him. I had an added advantage as I have seen the original film. I have tried to make it as better as I could,” he said.
When asked if the film would be as big a rage as the original, he said, “Aashiqui 2 was a big hit. I hope people enjoy our film too as we have put in our best. Rest is for the audience to decide.” Since the Telugu audience is not in favour of sad endings, the makers, Joshi said, are working out options to have a good ending unlike Aashiqui 2 in which the hero dies in the end. “The makers have been brainstorming on this and I think the audience are in for a pleasant surprise,” said the hero.
Talking about the trend of remaking South films, the actor stated, “Remakes are good as long as the original has been a success and the remake also enjoys the same status. Besides, if a film is being remade because the original had been a crowd-puller, the adapted version will cater to a wide audience who can enjoy the film. I believe that everything that is a success should be remade.”
Joshi has been shooting in Hyderabad with Nazia Hussain, niece of Sanjay Dutt, who plays the female lead. “I have been shooting with her for over a month and she is very talented. Acting is in her blood,” he said.
The film, directed by Jaya Ravindra, is most likely to release in the first week of July.

Mrinal Kulkarni to direct Rama Madhav

Mrinal Kulkarni’s second directorial venture, a historical love story titled Rama Madhav, is complete. It is the remake of Swami, a serial with which she made her acting debut 25 years ago.
Based on a popular novel Swami, Rama Madhav is one of the big-budget films in Marathi cinema, says Mrinal. Shot over 37 days in Pune, the dubbing of the film is currently on and the release date is yet to be finalised. While Mrinal Kulkarni and Ravindra Mankani, who played the lead in the serial, will feature in cameos , the film will feature a fresh pair in the lead.
Mrinal’s first directorial venture Prem Mhanje Prem Mhanje Prem Asate, in 2013, was a huge success.
