INDORE: Pre-monsoon showers lashed the city on Wednesday taking a sting out of searing heat. The showers, which brought down temperature, caught residents off-guard.
Weatherman predicted the rain activity would continue till monsoon hits the city around June 20. "The western part of Madhya Pradesh is receiving some moisture from the Arabian Sea and hence the monsoon activity can be observed.
However, these activities are temporary and do not last for more than a few hours," Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhopal circle, director D P Dubey said.
In the city, skies darkened around 6:30pm with cloud cover over Saket, Palasiya, Pardeshipura and Vijay Nagar areas of the city. The rains were accompanied by thunder and lightning which provided much-needed respite from the sultry weather. However, the western parts of the city and the airport area remained largely untouched by showers and pre-monsoon activity.
Enjoying the weather with her husband, Sheetal Kanadia, housewife, went for a long drive with her husband Virendra on Ujjain and Sanwer Road. "We enjoyed treat of roasted corn, crispy chips and pakodas," Sheetal added.
