Ranadive has brought freshness to NBA: Isaiah Thomas

MUMBAI: His name sounds legendary, but his parents decided to name him with an extra 'A'.
Isaiah Thomas, 25, of the Sacramento Kings bears no resemblance with the legendary Isiah Thomas of the Detroit Pistons in the 80s and the 90s. Isaiah is neither controversial, nor does he have a legacy like his namesake. But the young man, a point guard, is an artist with the ball in the forecourt, making those pull-up jump shots or finding his man with pinpoint passes.
Sacramento did not have the best of seasons, they finished third from bottom with 28 wins and 54 losses but with the owners being the flavour of the NBA season, for all the wrong reasons, Sacramento's Vivek Ranadive, who took over prior to the start of the season, brings in a certain amount of freshness according to Thomas.
"He is a smart man. He brought India to Sacramento. We had some interesting nights during our home games when Bollywood was the theme and the cheer girls swayed to the tunes of Indian film music, there were nights when the women had dressed up in traditional Indian wear. It was fun," says Thomas.
Though Sacramento endured a tough season, Thomas sees the positives. "We are a talented bunch, we are young, and we competed every night. What we need is consistency and we will work very hard on it from the next season," says Thomas.
Personally, Thomas did not have a bad season with more than 1400 points at an average of 20 per game. "I have always won and it is difficult to go through a season when you are not winning too much.
I am going to work hard and I will try hard to change the culture of the Sacramento Kings," says Thomas.
