DADRI: Noida city remained unaffected during the bandh called by the BJP on Monday, demanding arrest of the killers of party leader Vijay Pandit. However, demonstrations staged by BJP workers and protesters at various places in Gautam Budh Nagar led to traffic snarls on arterial NH-91.
Dadri market remained closed on Monday and the traders said they will continue their agitation till the culprits are arrested.
Heavy police and paramilitary forces were deployed to maintain peace in the district.
SDM Rajesh Yadav said that no untoward incident reported during the agitations.
According to police, protesters gathered near Kanya Vaidik inter college on Monday at 8am and moved towards Dadri GT Road and Railway road.
The situation intensified after thousands of protesters gathered on GT Road and raised anti-state and anti-police slogans. Within minutes they reached Dadri police station and tried to forcefully enter the office. Senior police officers assured immediate arrest of the accused.
"The protesters were demanding immediate arrest of Vijay Pandit's murderer. The case will be cracked soon. Meanwhile, we are in touch with the key people in the area and requesting them to maintain peace and order in the area also," said Yadav.

One company of RAF, one company of RRF, two companies of PAC and fire tenders had to be deployed to maintain peace and order. Force will stationed at several spots on Tuesdays also. Senior police officer and administration officials have been camping in Dadri to keep close tab on the situation.
Congress, meanwhile, threatened to hold a state wide protest demanding arrest of the murderers and to ensure public safety.
