Goon killed by rival gang near Ganeshpeth ST stand
NAGPUR: A youth having criminal record was murdered over an old rivalry at the crowded inter-district bus stand area at Ganeshpeth on Monday afternoon. It is learnt, Ajni-based 'Maya gang' is likely to be behind the gruesome assault, which happened at a stone's throw from the bus stand police chowky.
Though deputy commissioner of police Sanjay Darade has suspended two constables for being clueless despite being on duty at the chowky, the incident underlines the need for stringent police action against hardened criminals.

The brutality in the crime is evident from the fact that victim Suraj Jaiswal's fingers were severed in the assault and were found lying on the road. The police later collected the fingers while shifting the body from the spot.
While constables Adil Sheikh and Dharmendra Nitnaware have been suspended, senior officers from Ganeshpeth police station sounded clueless even after several hours of the incident. Though second inspector Rafique Baghban, in-charge (crime), claimed that investigation was being conducted, no one was rounded up till evening. He was also not clear about the motive of the murder.
The assailants, who had come on bikes, stabbed Jaiswal repeatedly with sharp weapons before smashing his head with a heavy stone and broken block of the road divider. Jaiswal was with his friend Akshay Dupare, who fled the spot when the assailants surrounded them. Jaiswal possessed a knife which was attached to his waist, said sources in police. Jaiswal had come to Ganeshpeth for recovering a loan. The information was leaked to Maya Gang which pounced on Jaiswal and Dupare while they were waiting at a paan kiosk.

Cops are looking at footages captured by CCTV cameras installed at a couple of shops in the vicinity to search for any clues. Cops are also trying to get call detail records of Jaiswal's mobile number.
It is learnt Jaiswal, who was into business of DJ music systems, had assaulted one Anil Waghmare around a one-and-half year ago. Sources said Jaiswal and Waghmare had a fight over sharing the money won in gambling at a den in Ajni. Jaiswal had a couple of offences registered against him including attempt to murder.
Waghmare and his aides formed a gang named after former gangster from Mumbai, Maya Dolas. Cops have been turning a blind eye to the gang's activities in Ajni. Jaiswal's family had shifted to Hingna apprehending serious consequence of his enmity with Waghmare.
Waghmare's accomplices who allegedly helped in eliminating Jaiswal include Shubham Pethe, alias Pethya, Chintu Waghmare, Mir Mishra, Salman, Shahrukh and Tinku alias Tingya.
