Math whiz plays genius Ramanujan in biopic
Abhinay Vaddi, the grandson of legendary actors Kadhal Mannan Gemini Ganesan and Savithri, seems to have had no trouble portraying mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan in the film being directed by Gnana Rajasekaran, thanks to his mathematical prowess.
Sources close to the unit say that Abhinay himself was good at maths and that helped him portray the character to perfection.
Confirming the news, Abhinay says, It is true. Although I was a commerce student, I used to do really well and top some of the mathematical exams which the science students used to take for their various entrance exams. So, I guess thats when the connection with mathematics started. Also, Ramanujan was a person who wanted to achieve and do only what he liked and wanted. That character is pretty similar to whom I am in real life.
Abhinay, like his grandfather Gemini Ganesan, is also a good cook. I love cooking and I am proud to have inherited it from my grandfather, he says, adding that champion is the first word that comes to his mind when he thinks of Gemini Ganesan. He always used to encourage everyone at home to do what we like and also gave a lot of importance to education. He was a sports fanatic and encouraged me a lot in my table tennis which made me become even a national champion. He always said that no matter what path we choose , there is no substitute to hard work and diligence.
