Stalkers who chopped off J-K girl's ear arrested

Following large-scale protests, the J-K Police on Friday swung into action and arrested all the seven stalkers who chopped of the ear of a girl in Veerinag area of south Kashmir.

An SHO was reportedly suspended for his inaction into the incident.

SHO, Rafiq Ahmad, had described the attack on a girl as accident. The incident took place on Wednesday evening when the girl was on her way back from a school excursion in Pahalgam.

The stalkers, who were seven in number, followed the schoolgirls in their Maruti van. The stalkers stopped the bus at around 10 pm and attacked the girl with a sharp-edged weapon and chopped her ear.

Later, the girl was admitted in Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Srinagar, where doctors say her ear needs a surgery.

The SHO, without verifying details of the incident, stated that the girl's ear was damaged while coming out from the bus.

The police have also seized the Maruti van. Meanwhile hundreds of people took to streets in Nowgam village in protest against the incident.
