A man in Bangalore allegedly stole biscuits worth Rs 1 lakh in a matter of minutes by investing just Rs 500. However, his luck ran out when cops nabbed him and recovered the consignment.

When biscuits distributor Yoga Saiprakash got a call from Raju R inquiring if he could deliver a consignment of biscuits, he didn’t suspect anything fishy. He was accustomed to taking orders over the phone and collecting the payment on delivery. Raju placed an order for Parle-G biscuits worth Rs 1 lakh, and wanted the consignment delivered at a godown in Doddakaneli, Sarjapur Road. Raju said he would pay after the biscuits were delivered.

Trusting him, Saiprakash’s men delivered the biscuits. When they sought payment, Raju asked them to follow him to a bank nearby where he would withdraw money and make the payment.

On the way to the bank, Saiprakash’s men lost sight of Raju, who was riding a bike. When Saiprakash called him on his phone, Raju said he was withdrawing money and would make the payment within an hour. Subsequently, he kept dodging Saiprakash. By evening, Raju’s phone was switched off.

Tired of waiting for five hours, Saiprakash and his men headed to the godown where they had delivered the biscuits and realised that Raju had taken the godown on rent for half-a-day by paying an advance of Rs 500. Saiprakash learnt that Raju had vanished with the biscuits within minutes after they were delivered at the godown.

Saiprakash lodged a complaint with the HSR Layout police, who used mobile tracking technology and traced Raju to his house at Saptagiri Layout in Uttarahalli.

During questioning, Raju allegedly confessed that he had sourced Saiprakash’s number from a sales bill issued to another wholesale merchant. Raju said he had tricked Saiprakash to repay his debts. He is now behind bars.
