“Dad is my best friend. I was so happy when he decided to shoot for my debut film. It was an awesome experience and like any friend, he helped me and gave some valuable tips,” says Satya Manjrekar, whose father, the popular actor and film-maker Mahesh Manjrekar, in an attempt to bring in some glamour quotient to son Satya’s debut Marathi film, Janiva, shot a song recently.
The song, Ganpati Bappa Morya.. Morya re Morya ..”, sung by Daler Mehdi, who has lent his voice for a Marathi song for the first time, was canned at Mumbai’s Thakur complex at Kandivli. The shot had the famous Nashik dhol and saffron turban (safa as called in Marathi) on full display on the sets and Mahesh Manjrekar was traditionally dressed in a golden kurta and red pyjamas. “Dad shot only for one day. He is there just in one song, in a special appearance,” says Satya who is playing the lead role of the young protagonist in the movie. He was also present on the occasion along with other members of the cast.
Directed by Rajesh Ranshinge, Janiva also stars Renuka Shahane, Kiran Karmarkar, Indira Krishnan, Salil Ankola, Atul Parchure, Kishore Kadam, Usha Nadkarni and Srman Jain along with newcomers Vaibhavi Sandilya, Anuradha Mukharjee, Devdutt Dani and Sanket Agarwal. Being made under the banner of Blue Eye productions and Arvana Productions, it is produced by Milind Vishnu, Rajesh Ranshinge, Reshma Vishnu and TV actor Srman Jain. The film is almost complete.
