Dutch film "Boy" big winner at Czech film festival

The Dutch film "Boys" won four awards at the 54th International Film Festival for Children and Youth which is held in Zlin, the Czech Republic, the organisers announced on Wednesday before the awarding ceremony.

Directed by Mischa Kamp, "Boys" tells a story of two teenage boys, training athletics, whose feelings for each other go far beyond their ordinary friendship.

The film received the main award of the international jury for the best feature film for youth, the audience award and the ecumenical jury's award. Gijs Blom, the lead role in the film, won the best youth actor.

"The Nightingale," a French-Chinese film directed by Philippe Muyl won the Golden Slipper, main award for the best feature film for children. The U.S. film the "Kings of Summer" directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts won the Golden Slipper for the best feature film for youth.

The best animated film award went to "Mythopolis" directed by Czech illustrator, animator and director Alexandra Hetmerova. Hungarian "Rabbit and Deer" by Peter Vacz won the Hermina Tyrlova award for animated film-maker under 35 years.

"The Little Cousteau", a short animated film by Czech Jakub Kouril, succeeded in the students' film competition.

Zlin festival is held from May 30 to June 5 this year, it offered 365 films from 55 countries and attracted about 107,000 attendances.
