Maker wants 'IHI Inside' to be pinnacle of aircraft engine quality

TOKYO -- Airlines are expanding fleets as travel demand continues to grow worldwide. As airplane builders and their suppliers benefit from this trend, IHI, a heavy machinery maker, is trying to be the standard bearer of core components of jet engines.

Boeing 777 jet engines use many IHI components.

The company's goal is to have cutting-edge materials that are years ahead of rivals by focusing its resources on overcoming tremendous technological problems in processing such materials.
