Eight Taliban fighters have been killed and four others injured in the country's eastern Wardak province since Tuesday as the government forces are trying to boost security for the June 4 presidential runoff, a provincial administration statement sent to media on Wednesday said.
"Eight Taliban militants have been killed, four others injured and four more militants arrested in Chak, Jaghatoo and Narkh districts of Wardak province since Tuesday," the statement added.
However, the statement didn't say if there were casualties on security personnel.
Conflicts and Taliban-led militancy have gotten new momentum since Taliban launched the so-called spring offensive on May 12 in Afghanistan. Endi
