Early this year, Ekta Kapoor, reviewed her presence in the television space and decided to strengthen it. She planned a couple of new shows and also thought of bringing back one of her old popular series, Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, in its second season.
Kapoor wanted Smriti Irani, the leading lady from the original series, to continue as the main attraction in the second season.
The idea was to finalise the story and screenplay soon after the elections and start shooting by August.
This plan was made keeping in mind that Irani was contesting against Rahul Gandhi from Amethi.
Irani may have lost from Amethi, but the actor-politician is now appointed as a Cabinet minister under the BJP regime. With this, Kapoor’s plans have gone awry and she has put the project with Irani on hold indefinitely.
The actor’s latest appointment has also affected Umesh Shukla’s All Is Well. Irani plays the lead actor Abhishek Bachchan’s mother in the film, which was being shot in a small town near Shimla. The shoot had to be cut short because she was unavailable.
