Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board has served notices to over 400 houses for allowing construction of illegal telecom towers on their roofs. Since most of the recipients have not responded to the summons, the Board has decided to remove the towers. SCB officials say the ministry of defence has directed telecom companies to obtain permission from the Board to install mobile towers to ensure the security of the military establishments in the area. “We have also been receiving complaints from residents citing health concerns,” said an SCB official.
The Board has issued notices to all mobile phone companies and to the owners of buildings and for installing towers on their rooftops. Towers were found in Marredpally, Picket, AOC, Balamrai, Diamond Point, Bolaram, Lothkunta etc.
