MANGALORE: Chikkamalapura in Kollegal taluk of Chamarajanagar district recorded maximum rainfall of 108.5mm in Karnataka in the last 24-hours up to 8.30am on June 3. Athni hobli in Athni taluk of Belgaum district recorded maximum temperature of 41°C on June 2 at 2.30pm. Santhahalli hobli in Somwarpet taluk of Kodagu district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 17.1°C on June 3 at 4.45am.
More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 63% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 15% geographical area in the state. Rainfall over the state is considered as widespread since 76% of the hoblis and gram panchayats (GPs) recorded rainfall of =2.5mm. Heavy rain was recorded in 50 gram panchayats, rather heavy rain in 244 GPs, moderate rain in 562 GPs, light rain in 254 GPs, very light rain in 224 GPs and no rain in remaining 530 GPs.
The maximum temperature fell at many places over north interior Karnataka and changed little over remaining parts of the state. The minimum temperature fell at most places over interior Karnataka; so at few places over Coastal Karnataka and changed little over remaining parts of the state.
Karnataka for the period May 28 to June 3 recorded surplus rainfall of 59%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 25.1mm in south-interior, north-interior, Malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 39.9mm. For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on June 3, four geographical regions received 17.6mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 4.4mm, a 300% deficit departure from normal.
