URI, June 2: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today said the Government has been making efforts to develop hilly and far-flung areas of the State and development of infrastructure during last five years.
Addressing a series of public meetings at Bijhama, Lachipora, Mayan, Kathal, Muqam Peeran, Noor Khah, Gawalta, Machikr and other areas during his four day tour, the Minister said Government fashioned its development initiative in such a manner that the far flung and remote areas got duly reflected in its priority list. He said political executives and senior Government functionaries regularly visit these areas to ascertain the development needs and factor them in the developmental paradigm of the State.
Mr. Taj said the present Government has worked hard to ameliorate the lot of people particularly those living Below Poverty Line, in far flung areas and those belonging to weaker sections of society for whom many schemes and programmes are in vogue.
The Minister said many path breaking steps were taken during the last five years of present Government. He said raising of water usage charges, which constitutes one-third of State’s revenue, would give power generation in J&K a big boost. He said the health sector in the State has been refocused to provide all basic medical facilities to people living in far flung areas at their doorstep. He said similarly in other sectors like education, health, social welfare etc. J&K has seen phenomenal growth and progress.
