Man chases wife in hospital drama, smashes glass panes
MUMBAI: A 40-year-old driver was arrested by the Charkop police after he smashed glass panes at a private hospital in Kandivali, in a bid to attack his wife who is employed there. The accused, Vilas Madne, was sloshed at the time, police said. His hand was soaked in blood which dripped over at the police station, causing other complainants to panic.
"Madne's wife, Lalita, has lodged a complaint against him in 2010 as well for assault.
The couple, married since 1995, have been facing domestic problems. They have two kids and reside at Charkop," said a police official. Lalita, 36, works as a nurse at Mangalmurti Hospital in Charkop.
"Around 10am on Monday, Madne stormed into the hospital looking for Lalita. On spotting her on the ground floor, he started to chase her in order to hit her. Lalita ran into the ICU and locked it from inside. Madne smashed the glass panes, at the entrance to the ICU, with his fist to gain access. In the process, he injured his hand. A crowd of hospital staffers gathered and one of them informed the police," said the official.
Till the police arrived, Madne was roaming around in the hospital. Nobody tried to pin him down. He was first taken to the Charkop police station and then to a public hospital, by the cops, for getting his wound treated.
Madne has been booked under sections 452, 323, 504, 506 and 427 of IPC. Lalita told the cops that her husband would get drunk often and had a very short temper.
