Acer’s new C205 is a new LED based, FWVGA, battery operated, projector that may be the answer to a road warriors presentation problems.
This miniscule projector is 144 (W), 108 (D) and 27mm (H) yet it weights around 300g and will run for 2 hours on its internal battery pack.
It has a full sized HDMI input (will work with any HDMI source) and is also designed to work with a MHL cable (essentially a microUSB to HDMI converter used on many Android smartphones). It will project up to 1280x800-resolution, 16:9 diagonal image up to 100” (254cm) – 82” at 2 metres. It has 2 x 2W stereo speakers. It uses a LED lamp for 20000/30000 hours in normal/economy mode. It costs A$499.
Buyers must remember that it is a very portable projector – 150 lumens will need a semi-darkened room for best results and it won’t replace a larger projector for typical board room use.
