VADODARA/ANAND: Four members of a family, including two children, were found dead at a village in Khambhat taluka of Anand district on Saturday. The family hailed from Bhadran town of Anand district.
According to police, Arvind Fulabhai Gohil, 42, a resident of Ishwar Krupa society located near Bhadran bus stand, used to work as a daily wager at construction sites.
Gohil had taken his family including wife Nayana, 38, Mitul, 9, and Kamini, 6, at Ralaj village in Khambhat taluka. The family had offered prayers at Sikotar Mata temple in Ralaj village after which they went to a farm located behind the temple premises.
It was at this farm that the elders of the family consumed sulphos tablets and also gave them to the children because of financial problems, police sources said.
The villagers on noticing the family members in an unconscious state had rushed them to Petlad civil hospital. Arvind and Kamini died on their way to the hospital. Nayana and Mitul were given primary treatment at Petlad civil hospital after which they were shifted to Vadodara's Sir Sayajirao General Hospital where they too succumbed.
According to Khambhat police sub inspector A N Prajapati a case has been registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 309.
Since the family did not have any immediate relative in Bhadran, police officials informed Arvind's sister, a widow, who resides at Bhadrania village about the incident. The last rites of the deceased were performed at Bhadrania village on Sunday.
