Both the teams are well balanced and have played some outstanding cricket to enter the final of IPL-7. Kolkata already have one IPL title under their belt, which they won in 2012, whereas Punjab have reached the final of the tournament for the very first time. Quest of both the teams to reach the finals was quite contrasting. If, Punjab got the momentum from initial stage of tournament and managed to remain at the top of the tables almost throughout the season, with the help of their consistent performance, then, Kolkata got their momentum in the second-leg of the tournament. In Glenn Maxwell, David Miller, Virender Sehwag, Manan Vohra and George Bailey, Punjab have a robust batting line-up. On the other hand, Kolkata too have many match-winning batsmen at their disposal. Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir come to open the innings for KKR. And Uthappa is going through a purple patch and is the highest run scorer of this edition. Then they have also have some big hitters in Shakib Al Hasan and Yusuf Pathan. When it comes to bowling department, KKR have slight edge over Punjab as they have two in-form new ball bowlers in Morne Morkel and Umesh Yadav and handy spinners in Piyush Chawla and Shakib. Though, Punjab too have world-class bowler in Mitchell Johnson but he has not been as lethal as one can expected him to be, while representing Punjab. In the finals role of Sandeep Sharma and all-rounder Akshar Patel will also be crucial for Punjab. But the trump cards in the match for both the teams would be the mystery spinner Sunil Narine and murderous batsman Glenn Maxwell for their respective sides. And the contest between these two players would be a treat to watch tonight.
