Team title for Bhavnagar paddlers

SURAT: Holders Bhavnagar retained the men's and women's team title in the Inter-District Table Tennis Championship that was held at Surat. In the men's team final, Bhavnagar beat Baroda 3-1 while their women's team beat Surat by similar margin to win the crown.
In the men's title round, Ravi Joshi gave Bhavnagar the lead by beating Malay Parikh 11-9, 11-6, 11-9 but Jalay Mehta equalized it for Baroda when he beat Dharamraj Rana 11-1, 7- 11, 11-2, 11-9.However, Jagdish Makwana gave Bhavnagar the lead when he beat Bhinang Kothari 11-9,11-4, 11-6 and Ravi then settled the issue beating Jalay 11-5, 11-6, 11-7.
In the women's final, Divya Gohil gave Bhavnagar the lead when she beat young Simin Atodaria 11-6, 11-9, 6-11, 7-11, 11-4 but Frenaz Chipia levelled it with a 11-4, 11-3, 11-3 win over Dwijal Trivedi. Nirja Trivedi swung it in Bhavnagar's favour beating Arushi Nandwani 11-6, 11-5, 11-6 while Divya settled the issue by defeating Frenaz 8-11, 11-7, 11-3, 11-6. Surat, however, got their revenge when they swept the junior categories. In the junior girls they beat Bhavnagar 3-1 while in junior boys they blanked Ahmedabad 3-0.
