Close to 15,000 people have subscribed to Vodafone’s mYouth service, a platform dedicated to address teenage pregnancies, drug and substance abuse among other issues relate to youths.
This was revealed by Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation executive, Ambalika Kutty, at the mYouth technology handover to Fiji Council of Social Services and National Volunteer Centre yesterday. Ms Kutty said the handover of laptops, projectors and tablets with free internet connectivity was an upscale of mYouth.
“Our strength is technology and we are now giving the power to charity organisations in Fiji to use technology that has the potential to reach larger population,” Ms Kutty said.
She said the channel, under the mYouth could be accessed through a subscription with Vodafone on free dial *929#.
FCOSS president Samuel Reuben said they would now be able to reach the vulnerable population with reduced cost, greater impact and ability to monitor and evaluate projects.
The total cost for the technology handover was $6045.
Meanwhile, a volunteer for mFitness Jekesoni Yanuyanudrua, 18, said he wanted to reach out to the public under mFitness Free Dial *979# and educate them on the importance of being fit.
“The mFitness channel will help people be healthier, increase the chances of living longer and make them feel better about themselves,” Mr Yanuyanudrua said.
