VW reveals the real-life version of its GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo concept

The design competiton sparked by video game mastermind Kazunori Yamauchi to mark the 15th anniversary of Gran Turismo has already lead to a couple of stunning real-life examples from Mercedes-Benz and Toyota. Today, Volkswagen put its bits into metal form with the public reveal of the GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo concept, a 503-hp roadster that takes the GTI name into new and futuristic terrain.

VW chief designer Klaus Bischoff oversaw an internal competition to design the concept, with himself and Yamauchi, who's a Golf GTI collector. "When Sony asked us if we would develop a Vision GTI vehicle exclusively for the game to mark the 15th anniversary of Gran Turismo we didn't hesitate for a moment."
