Ashoka University having 25 acre campus at Rajiv Gandhi Educational City at Kundli near Sonepat in NCR, today announced its launch at its first press conference in Chandigarh, following acknowledgement by the Haryana Government.

Led by academic luminaries from around the world and funded entirely by philanthropic contributions from business leaders, Ashoka is poised to be India?s first university in the class of the celebrated Ivy League institutions. Admissions for Ashoka?s inaugural session have begun with 2,500 applications in process from over 200 Indian cities and 10 countries. Applicants from Chandigarh and Haryana can avail the added benefit of 25% reservation for Haryana domicile students.

Founders & Trustees of Ashoka University,Dr. Pramath Raj Sinha and Vineet Gupta and Prof. Jonathan Gil Harris, PhD from University of Sussex, UK and former Professor at George Washington University, USA claimed here at a presss conference today that ?by providing a high quality academic experience rooted in the tradition of the liberal Arts, Ashoka responds to the needs of Indian students who have traditionally travelled to the West for institutions founded on a similar philosophy. Ashoka offers a four-year undergraduate degree programmein which students can explore a variety of disciplines before choosing a specialization that is tailored to their individual interests?.

The University?s acclaimed interdisciplinary postgraduate programme, the Young India Fellowship, has run successfully since 2011 and attracts some of the brightest minds in the country, setting a precedent for the new undergraduate programme. Ashoka?s objective is to produce graduates with multi-disciplinary perspectives and leadership skills to excel in any domain. The selection process is based on a candidate?s academic record, extra-curricular achievements and personal growth throughout high school. Need-based scholarships worth INR 17croresand ranging from 20% to 100% are available to all deserving students to ensure that they are able to avail this quality of education irrespective of their financial backgrounds.
