GUWAHATI: Drug kingpin Samsul Haque Talukdar, alias Pakhi Miyan, was granted bail by Gauhati high court on Tuesday. With this, Pakhi Miyan received bail in all four cases registered against him in Assam. He was acquitted in a case in West Bengal earlier this year.
Assam Police named Miyan as the key drug racketeer of the state in all the cases. He was arrested in April, 2008 in West Bengal by Barrackpore Police with 10kg of ganja, 200gm of heroin, 21 SIM cards and some documents.
He was later handed over to Assam Police.
He was shifted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital while in judicial custody, but managed to escape in 2008 by allegedly drugging policemen engaged to keep an eye on him. He was again arrested in West Bengal's Durgapur.
