Two men believed to be "enforcers" used by Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir have been arrested .

Alleged taxi hit-man Siphiwe Memela, 36, was arrested after being shot in the leg by KwaZulu-Natal police on Thursday during a house robbery in Pinetown.

Detectives have linked him to plans to assassinate, allegedly on Krejcir's orders, police crime intelligence colonel Nkosana Ximba and private forensic investigator Paul O'Sullivan.

Krejcir - along with Zodumo Biyela, Siboniso Mia, Jacob Nare, Owen Serero, crime intelligence sergeant Nandi Nkosi, and Welcome Mafunda - are on trial for conspiracy to commit murder.

A police source said Memela was known as "Baba ka Jesu" (father of Jesus, or God) "as he is the one who determines who lives and who dies".

Memela yesterday appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate's Court on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and the illegal possession of arms and ammunition.

Hours after Memela's arrest, Hawks and crime intelligence officers arrested Jack Watts Cloete at the Krugersdorp Silver Star Casino.

He appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court on Friday.

A police source said Cloete was known to have links to both Krejcir and murdered Western Cape underworld boss Cyril Beeka.

Cloete was wanted by the police for a variety of crimes - including drug-related offences and attempted murder.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-General Solomon Makgale confirmed that Memela was also being investigated in connection with the murder of Lebanese businessman and Krejcir associate Sam "Cripple" Issa.

Memela's next court appearance is on June 13.

Cloete is to appear in court on Thursday.
