The 20-year-old Canadian triumphed 6-2 4-6 6-3 over Karolina Pliskova to win the Nurnberger Versicherungscup and has been rewarded with a rise to 16th in the world.

Pliskova, too, is given a rankings boost, climbing 11 places to 53rd in Monday's revision.

Monica Puig was the toast of Puerto Rico at the weekend after winning the country's first trophy on the WTA Tour, and she now sits 41st in the world after leaping 15 positions.

Puig defeated Silvia Soler-Espinosa to win the Internationaux de Strasbourg, with the Spaniard hurtling into the top 100 with a climb from 118th to 85th.

Aside from Bouchard replacing Sloane Stephens in the top 16, there was no movement among the elite players in the women's game, but that could all change as they contest the French Open over the coming fortnight.
