JHANSI: Famous hockey player Major Dhyanchand's Olympian son Ashok Dhyanchand has been invited to attend Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony to be held on Monday.
He is the only person in the district apart from newly-elected MP Uma Bharati to receive the invite.
"Feeling at the top of the world," said Ashok when TOI contacted him. He described the invitation as "an honour for the entire city and the hockey world." He felt that invitation could be a prelude to bestowing of Bharat Ratna on Major Dhyanchand and said "He was the most deserving candidate for the award as he never played for personal benefits but for the country." He also added that records established by Major Dhyanchand on the field of hockey were yet to be challenged.
