Sreesanth takes his dance moves seriously. The tainted cricketer has been sweating it out at a Goregaon studio, perfecting his skills for an upcoming reality show.

Pink of wealth

Just when Aishwarya and Abhishek were glowing in the Cannes spotlight, immaculately dressed for the amfAR gala, there were others who were representing the city at the prestigious do. Draped in a pink and silver Manish Malhotra saree and sporting a bindi, Queenie Singh stood out at the auction and party hosted by Sharon Stone, as she posed next to John Travolta, Stone and Kylie Minogue among others. At a time when Aishwarya chose to ditch Indianwear altogether, it was interesting to see the champion of the ‘bandage dress’ go for an ethnic look. Queenie was with her beau Rishi Sethia, while Cyrus Poonawala too was at the congregation of the world’s wealthiest and power elite. As for the auction, it lived up to the hype and expectations. Damien Hirst’s gilded skeleton of a mammoth that went extinct more than 10,000 years ago, fetched a jaw dropping 15 million dollars – the highest bid in the history of the charity. An all-red fashion show, featuring 42 designers and top models who walked for free, proved to be the other winner with the collection going for five million euros. Though she is yet to get over the experience (not her first Cannes amFar, but her best, she says) Queenie hopped over to Monaco for the Grand Prix. That’s a summer well spent.

Shop talk

On a ‘creative sabbatical’, designer and socialite Divya Mohta, has been busy putting her styling and shopping skills to better use. She has set up a blog that aims at educating her peers about the essentials of shopping online and allaying their fears about the medium and the method. “I have been shopping on the internet for 10 years now,” she said to the diarist, elaborating on how her knowledge of fabric and international sizes is coming in handy when readers seek her advice on what not to wear. She is also keen to introduce her followers to a world of chic dressing that looks beyond brands that are heavily endorsed. While her tips are free, she hopes this would help her get some interesting projects soon. With some of the most influential stylists in the business taking note of and praising her endeavour, we think she is doing alright.

Table matters

While in his wife Kiran Rao’s city, Bangalore, for a private family function, Aamir Khan was spotted at Lavelle Road restaurant on two consecutive days last week. He must have been working up a hearty appetite because one saw him go for the salmon fillet, roast chicken and steak with admirable gusto. What’s more, on Friday, he even got some food packed from the restaurant before catching up with Nandita Das, who happened to be around.

Tailpiece

Congratulations are in order for Dheeraj and Deepshikha Deshmukh, who became proud parents of a bonny baby baby on Sunday morning. The news of the youngest member of the Deshmukh family was shared by a delighted Riteish, who let the world know that he was “kaka” for the third time. Congratulations to you too.

PS: Speaking of Bangalore and of Nandita Das, the actress, who has been prepping for her Ivy League leadership programme was with an old friend over the weekend, for some R & R. Not only did filmmaker and lyricist Kavitha Lankesh throw her a party, she also arranged for a personal masseuse for Das, to take care of those pressure knots.
