IPL 7 T20 RCB vs CSK: Chennai win by 8 wickets

Chennai Super Kings bounced back from three defeats in a row with an emphatic eight-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore to retain their number two spot in the IPL 7 table.

Chasing a target of 155, CSK romped home with 14 balls to spare making 160-2 in 17.4 overs after openers Smith (34) and Faf du Plessis gave them a flying start putting on 57 in 4.2 overs.

Dhoni promoted himself after the fall of Raina (18) and featured in an electrifying stand of 75 off just 49 balls for the unbroken third with du Plessis.

Du Plessis remained unbeaten on 54 off 43 balls hammering three sixes and three boundaries.

Dhoni shrugged off an ankle injury to steer Chennai home being unbeaten on a 28-ball 49 which was studded with four boundaries and three sixes.

Chahal was the pick of the bowlers finishing with figures of 4-0-24-1 while Yuvraj also bowled well before going for 22 in his final over.

Earlier, a swashbuckling half century by skipper Virat Kohli (73 off 49 balls with five sixes and two boundaries) lifted Bangalore to 154-6 after being put into bat.

Nehra claimed three for 33.

CHENNAI INNINGS

Faf du Plessis completes his half century in style smashing Jakati for a towering six for the winning hit as Chennai are home with 14 balls to spare.

Chennai need 12 from 18 balls with Faf du Plessis and Dhoni in full cry. CSK 143-2 in 17 overs.

Dhoni is turning it on clubbing two consecutive sixes and boundary as Yuvraj goes for 22. CSK 133-2 in 16 overs.

Dhoni paddle sweeps Chahal for a much needed boundary for Chennai. CSK 111-2 in 15 overs.

A strategic time out is taken with Dhoni requiring treatment with an ankle injury.

The boundaries have dried up for Chennai with Chahal and Yuvraj keeping it tight. CSK 95-2 in 12 overs.

Faf du Plessis survives being adjudged caught behind off Chahal but Chennai are in control. CSK 90-2 in 11 overs.

Starc comes into the attack and goes for 18 with Smith cracking a couple of boundaries while du Plessis clobbers him for a six. CSK 53-0 in 4 overs.

Chennai are off to a flying start with Smith hammering Jakati over extra cover for a six while du Plessis hits another boundary. CSK 35-0 in 3 overs.

Rampaul goes for 15 in his first over with Faf Du Plessis blasting a boundary and six off consecutive balls. CSK 20-0 in 2 overs.

BANGALORE INNINGS

Chennai Super Kings have won the toss and opted to bowl against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 53 of IPL 7 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Saturday.

CSK look to check their slide and seal second spot in the table.
