n officer with the crime division of the Tamalate Policein South Sulawesi, Brig. Arifuddin Nanu, has been detained for allegedly rapinga 16-year-old girl.
Makassar Police spokesman Comr. Mantasia said the incident took place when Arifuddin was giving the victim a ride home after work on Thursday night near Jl. Metro Tanjung Bunga.
'The victim always tries to find a ride to and from her workplace because there is no public transportation on Jl. Metro Tanjung Bunga. Arifuddin, who happened to be passing by, offered to take her home,' Mantasia said as quoted by Kompas.com on Friday.
Halfway into the journey, Arifuddin pulled his motorcycle into a quite area and allegedly raped her. According to Mantasia, he pulled out his sidearm and fired three shots into the air to force the victim to take her clothes off.
'Later on, the victim asked Arifuddin to put down his pistol and he did so. The victim then suddenly grabbed the pistol and pointed it at Arifuddin. She ran for her life, naked, screaming for help,' Mantasia said, adding that Arifuddin immediately fled the scene, leaving his motorcycle behind.
'Residents gave a sarong to the victim and helped her file a report with the Tamalate Police. Arifuddin has been detained and is currently being questioned,' he added.
