Former Union Minister Jaswant Singh, who was expelled from the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections, met BJP patriarch LK Advani at his residence on Friday, raising eyebrows within the saffron party.

Singh was expelled from the BJP after he spoke out against the party’s decision to deny him candidature from the Barmer Lok Sabha constituency.

He later contested from Barmer as an independent candidate but was defeated by the BJP nominee.

While Advani’s office sought to suggest that Singh’s meeting was a courtesy call to the BJP veteran, party leaders took notice but refrained from making much out of it.

Singh was also expelled from the BJP in 2009 but was re-inducted at the insistence of Advani in 2010. Singh had, after his expulsion, asserted that he would not join the BJP.
