It’ll be a busy (and eclectic) day in Congress on Wednesday, as an array of celebs, athletes and “Sesame Street” characters head to Capitol Hill.

On Wednesday morning, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, along with “House of Payne” star Doc Shaw and former New York Yankee and Latin Grammy-nominated musician Bernie Williams, will be on-hand for a press conference in the House Triangle held by the National Association of Music Merchants and the Science Technology Engineering Arts Math caucus.

{mosads}The celebs, who are poised to attend the White House’s first talent show a day earlier, will join Reps. Suzanne Bonamici (D-Ore.) and Aaron Schock (R-Ill.) to lobby for investing in music and arts education.

We hear Smith will also be meeting with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) that morning before getting a tour from the House Speaker’s office of the Capitol.

The group might just run into some familiar furry faces on that tour, as the United Service Organizations (USO) and Sesame Workshop team up Wednesday for a care package event. Elmo, Cookie Monster and Grover will help assemble 1,500 USO Warrior Care Packs for wounded, ill and injured troops at the Rayburn House Office Building.

Adam Carolla fans might also want to be on the lookout for the former “Loveline” and “The Man Show” host. The comedian and radio personality will join The Internet Association on Wednesday for a roundtable discussion on patent reform in the Russell Senate Office Building. Carolla’s eponymous podcast was sued for infringement by a so-called “patent troll.” A news release says the wisecracking comic will talk about “the urgent need for patent reform.”

In case that wasn’t enough, Wednesday is also National Golf Day.

Eighteen-time major champion Jack Nicklaus will join We Are Golf, a coalition of the game’s leading associations and industry partners, for a congressional breakfast in the Cannon House Office Building. And for those who want to improve their putting, a pro golfer will offer lessons to members of Congress and their staff at a daylong exhibit in the Cannon Caucus Room.
