12 shops constructed on forest land demolished

JAMMU, May 20: A joint team of Forest Department, Forest Protection Force (FPF) wing and Nagrota police today demolished 12 shops and a restaurant at Ban near Nagrota and retrieved 4 kanal of forest land today.
The illegal constructions were razed to the ground by using two JCBs and other labour force by the team led by DFO Jammu Dr V S Sinthil Kumar, Forest Range Officer B S Sanyal, assisted by SHO Nagrota Mr Parvez. Conservator of Forests, East Circle Jammu A K Gupta was closely supervising the operation.
These shops and a restaurant had been raised by the encroachers on forest land at village Ban on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. These structures were also creating hurdle in the process of 4-laning of National Highway. In a swift operation all these concrete structures were razed to the ground and nearly 4 kanal forest land was cleared.
