Serife Gunal, 18, from West Drayton, who is currently a member of the UK Youth Parliament, and Mufaro Multaurwa, 18, from Hayes, represented London at the European Youth Event, in Strasbourg, from May 9 to 11.

The pair debated youth issues and attended workshops.

Mufaro said: “Visiting the European Parliament was an honour.

“We were embraced by everyone there and meeting MEPs was a proud moment for me.”

Serife said: “It was so amazing – I can’t even put it into words.

“Before I went to Strasbourg I was swaying towards thinking that the UK should opt out of Europe, maybe because of the media’s influence.

“After this weekend I am completely pro-Europe and if I go into a career in politics I would like to improve people’s knowledge of the benefits of being part of it.”
