he rupiah traded interbanks in Jakarta on Friday morning strengthened by 27 basis points to 11,570 per US dollar, up from the previous 11,597.
Lukman Leong, financial market analyst from PT Platon Niaga Berjangka, said that a projected trade surplus for March and a controlled April inflation rate have created positive sentiment toward the rupiah.
"Positive expectations from the market players are maintaining the fluctuation of the domestic currency," Lukman said in Jakarta on Friday as quoted by Antara news agency.
He also said that relatively peaceful conditions in the political sector ahead of the upcoming presidential election had made investors comfortable to continue to invest in Indonesia.
"There is actually no strong sentiment that the rupiah will weaken," he added. (nfo)
