Junior golf tourney finals come to Gurgaon
GURGAON: To make your mark as a professional golfer, you will have to first earn your laurels in the junior golf circuit. The final zonal round of the Indian Golf Union's (IGU) junior golf tourney will be hosted here at the ITC Classic Golf Resort in Hasanpur on Friday, with over 65 teenage golfers likely to participate.
The organizers said more than 250 junior golfers from across India will compete for top honours in the tournament, which spans multiple venues and culminates later this year.
The stakes are also high this time round as the winners get an opportunity to represent India's junior squad in international tournaments.
"The tournament was inaugurated in Jaipur earlier this month, where around 75 players between the ages of 13 and 17 competed in two groups," said an organizer.
The event provides a crucial break to promising teenage golfers from the country. "The finals of the junior tournament will be played in November this year, and the venue will be Bangalore," the organizer said.
