EC orders action against Ramdas Kadam for alleged hate speech
The Election Commission of India has ordered stern action to be taken against Shiv Sena MLC Ramdas Kadam, for making hate speeches in Mumbai and Kalyan. EC Deputy Director-General Sudhir Tripathi called Deputy Chief Electoral Officer A N Valvi on Tuesday and asked for an action taken report. The suburban collector and Thane collector were also asked to take action.

Speaking at BKC on Monday, Kadam said that during the 2010 Azad Maidan riots, Muslims gathered there attacked police, damaged the martyrs’ memorial, and molested policewomen. He said Modi will ensure such acts do not go unpunished. He also said that once Modi becomes PM, Pakistan will be destroyed in six months.

On Tuesday, Kadam switched off his phone and couldn’t be contacted. His party too distanced themselves, saying, “The statements of Kadam do not echo the sentiments of Balasaheb Thackeray, Uddhav and the party. It is his personal view. The party’s stand on Hindutva is clear, and voiced by Uddhavji time and again," a party spokesperson said.

Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde also downplayed the remarks, saying, “What Kadam meant was that action would be taken against Pakistanis and Bangladeshis illegally staying here and who are enrolled as voters.”
