IMD officials predict rain in the next 48 hrs

Pune: A sudden thundershower blessed the heat-oppressed Pune on Monday evening cooling the high temperature and rendering soothing nights. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this bliss is likely to continue over the next 48 hours.
While the maximum temperature level rising as high as 37.5 degree Celsius today, spelling hotter afternoons; thanks to the erratic rainfall on Monday evening at varied places of the city, minimum temperature dropped to 20.4 degree Celsius.
The IMD officials suggest that the reason behind this blissful thundershower is wind discontinuity in 0.9 km a.s.l from Comorin area to Maharashtra coast across interior Karnataka.
Speaking about the areas expecting this irregular pre-monsoonal outburst, IMD officials predict, "Marathawada, Central Maharashtra and Konkan Goa might witness isolated rainfall in one or two places."
Although the rainfall continues to bring relief to certain places, the maximum temperature over the next 48 hours is expected to rise to 40 degree Celsius while minimum temperature drops to 23 degree Celsius. However, thunderclouds are expected to develop towards the afternoon shedding the much needed moisture towards the evenings in and around Pune.
