Woman gangraped in her house

A 21-year-old housewife was allegedly gang-raped repeatedly by three persons at her house in Diva in district, police said on Monday. The accused repeatedly raped the woman between April 16 and April 20 by drugging her, they said.

Apart from the male accused, police have also booked a case against a woman for abetting the crime. The woman, identified as Sonia, is the resident of the same building where the victims stays in Diva.

Police said the accused would threaten the victim with dire consequences and even put a knife to her throat if she disclosed the matter to anyone. Police suspect that the accused took advantage of Sonia's familiarity with the victim.

The accused have been identified as Sonia, Battu, Balia and his friend, said PSI PB Pawar. He added that the search is on to trace them. They are booked under sections 376-D (committing gang rape), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison etc) and 506 (2) (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. PTI


20-year-old arrested for raping minor after promise to marry her

A 20-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl for three days after promising to marry her, district rural police said on Monday.

According to Police Sub Inspector A V Salunke of Wada police station, the accused, Nagesh M Wagh, was arrested on Sunday night and was charged under sections 376,363, 366-A of the Indian Penal Code and also sections 6 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, following a complaint by the victim.

The incident took place on April 17 when the 17-year-old girl was on her way to work in Kandivali. Wagh, who lives in the same locality as the girl, offered her lift on his motorbike and took her to an isolated place.

He then repeatedly raped the girl over the next three days before he allegedly abandoned her, after which she approached the police. PTI
