Repolling in Barmer, Churu pegged at 81%

Jaipur/ Repolling was peacefully held in three polling booths of Barmer and one in Churu constituency under tight security on Monday.

JAIPUR/JAISALMER: Repolling was peacefully held in three polling booths of Barmer and one in Churu constituency under tight security on Monday.
Chief electoral officer Ashok Jain said the repolling percentage at four polling stations was 81.05%.
Polling booth number 171 in Sheo recorded 98.86% while booth no. 96 in Jaisalmer was a whisker short with 97.12%. Barmer (226) registered 75.61% voting and booth 92 in Churu registered 68.94% polling.
During the re-polling, total 742 out of 764 votes were polled at Bhagu in Barmer-Jaisalmer constituency.

The Election Commission had decided for repolling when Independent candidate Jaswant Singh filed a complaint against chief minister Vasundhara Raje for misusing the government machinery.
The repolling was done at Bhagu, in Jaisalmer assembly constituency, Punjraj ka Par in Sheo assembly constituency and Bankasar in Barmer.
In Bhagu, 386 men and 356 women exercised their right to vote. Barmer district collector Bhanu Prakash Atru said repolling remained peaceful.
In repolling, 90-year-old Animat came with her grandson Peer Mohammad and cast her vote. Also, an 85-year-old Saleema along with her son Kamaal and grand daughter-in-law Ajijo came to exercise her right.
Armed forces and RAC were on duty to maintain law and order.
