PUNE: The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has introduced 5-kg LPG cylinders to address the needs of migratory population and small families.
The product is from the free trade LPG basket of Indian Oil's products and will retail at a price of Rs 472 for a cylinder. A customer will have to initially pay Rs 1,878 for the connection for which he will have to submit only the proof of identity.
The connection will be available with select company-owned gas stations (petrol pumps) on a cash and carry basis, Indian Oil said in a statement issued here. There is a plan to eventually retail the product through major consumer retail outlets.
"This will be a boon to migratory population such as students, IT professionals, BPO employees and persons with odd duty timings as it would provide them the flexibility to pick up cylinders and obtain subsequent refills at time of their choice as petrol pumps are open for longer hours," said G Tiwari, executive director, Maharashtra and Goa, Indian Oil.
