KANPUR: The district administration, under the aegis of Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), organised a voter awareness programme at Ragendra Swarup auditorium here on Monday. Folk singer, Malini Awasthi, brand ambassador of the Election Commission, urged the people to exercise their right to franchise. A large number of people took pledge to cast vote.
She sang song 'Jago Re Jago...' to make people realise that the vote matters in the formation of a good government.

The teachers present on the occasion also recited the lines of the song.
The district magistrate answered the queries of the people regarding elections.
Co-ordinator of SVEEP told the gathering about various voter awareness programmes in the city.
The election observers and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, in a one day tour to Jhansi and Lalitpur, Yog Guru Baba Ramdev appealed to public to cast their vote for a corruption free government . Though he had got the permission to hold the camp only after he filed an affidavit for not utilizing it as a political stage, but he indirectly favoured BJP. He said that he is not a terrorist and his only agenda is to see a fair government in the center.Attacking Congress he said that it is high time that corruption should end.
