aggressive half centuries from jean-paul duminy and dinesh karthik helped delhi daredevils register a four-wicket victory over kolkata knight riders in a pepsi ipl 2014 match at the dubai international stadium on saturday night.

duminy who remained not out on 52 finished the match in style hitting spinner piyush chawla over the deep backward square leg boundary in the third ball of the final over.

duminy hammered three fours and three sixes in his entertaining knock off 35 balls. he added 58 runs for the fourth wicket with karthik.

karthik who hit five boundaries and two sixes in his 40-ball 56 was trapped in front of the wicket by sunil narine in the 15th over but duminy ensured that delhi who went down to rcb in their first match reach the target without much hiccups.

delhi faced an earlier setback when opener murali vijay was run out in the first over itself. mayank agarwal played an aggressive innings hitting 26 off 14 with three hits to the fence. morne morkel sent back the 23-year old batsman from bangalore in the fourth over after he added 29 runs from 3.1 overs for the second wicket with karthik.

ross taylor (9) looked uncomfortable throughout his stay at the crease and kallis clean bowled the new zealander in the seventh over to give kkr the upper hand.

new zeland all-rounder jimmy neesham who hit a six in his eight off 10 balls fell in the last over bowled by piyush chawla.

earlier robin uthappa smashed six boundaries and a six in his 41-ball 55 and guided kkr who were placed at 2-11 at one stage to a respectable total of 166 in 20 overs.

uthappa added 64 runs for the third wicket with manish pandey and 57 for the fourth wicket with shakib al hasan.

pandey who hit a match-winning 64 for kkr in their opening match against mumbai indians in abu dhabi was impressive in dubai as well scoring 48 off 42 balls with five hits to the fence.

he steadied the ship after both openers jacques kallis and gautam gambhir fell for ducks. kkr had a horrendous start when mohammed shami sent back kallis caught at slip in the very first ball of the innings. nathan coulter-nile gave kkr another scare when skipper gambhir was caught at leg slip. pandey however steadied the ship in the company of uthappa and the duo 64 runs in 9.2 overs.

left-arm spinner shahbaz nadeem ended the resistance of pandey in the 11th over by clean bowling the 24-year old batsmen who represented mumbai indians pune warriors and royal challengers bangalore before.

uthappa continued the good work in the company of bangladesh all-rounder shakib as they added 57 from six overs at the run-rate of 9.50.

uthappa fell to jaydev unadkat when he failed to clear deep midwicket in the 17th over.

shakib remained not out on 30 off 22 balls with two fours and one six while suryakumar yadav remained unbeaten on eight from three balls with two hits to the fence.

coulter-nile was the pick of the bowlers having finished with two for 27 from four overs while shami unadkat and nadeem bagged one wicket apiece.
