SINDRI: Hemlata S Mohan, Ajsu Party's candidate for Dhanbad seat, said on Saturday she would focus on women's safety and economic empowerment if voted to power.
Mohan, who was campaigning in Dhanbad, said she would set up women police stations in Bokaro and Dhanbad and self-help groups, besides improving infrastructure for better education.
Talking to newspersons during her roadshow here on Saturday, the former women's commission chief said even politics needs intellectual people "with impeccable integrity and commitment to serve".

"The public, especially the youth, want change in the way politics and politicians function in our country. This is a good sign for democracy," she said, adding that she decided to join politics to bring about positive changes . "We need to improve the condition of higher education if we want to provide employment to our youth. Beside setting up Koylanchal University in Dhanbad, providing facilities for technical and post graduation education in Bokaro is also among the issues I am raising during my campaigning," she said.
Hemlata further said industrial development in Dhanbad, utilization of unutilized land owned by Bokaro Steel Plant, regularisation of Jhuggi, Jhopri, Khatal and footpath are among important issues.
She made hectic tour in different parts of Baliapur and Sindri under Sindri assembly segment of the constituency.
Meanwhile, TMC candidate for Dhanbad parliamentary seat and former Dhanbad MP Chandrashekhar alias Dadai Dubey on Saturday said reopening the closed Sindri fertilizer factory will be his first priority.
Talking to mediapersons during his roadshow in Sindri on Saturday, Dubey charged the BJP of being anti farmers as it was during the NDA regime that eight fertilizer factories were closed. People of Dhanbad love me a lot and are fully aware of my track record as MP and I am going to win this time again, he claimed.
