Samsung Electronics Levant Sponsors “A Free Smartphone Application For Arab Universities” Initiative

Samsung Electronics Levant, the global leader in digital technologies and digital convergence, announced the launch of the student applications OCApp and UniApp, aiming to connect universities students through smartphone applications to enhance the educational experience atno cost for students, universities and colleges. Developed by Applikable technologies and adopted by The Association of Arab Universities with more than 300 member universities in the MENA region, this initiative will enhance services and collaboration between universities, students and the private sector.

Mr. Fadi Abu-Shamat, Head of Corporate Marketing at Samsung Electronics Levant Ltd. Mr. Rafeek Zabian, the managing director of Applikable Technologies-The Developing Partner of the applications- stressed on the success factors of their initiative and believes that current local capabilities compete internationally with UNIApp and OCApp which offer a full-fledged solution for educational institutes who lacked a mobile gateway for a tech savvy generation. Other Applikable Technologies upcoming applications are community based solutions as well offered to the public sector with the support of private leaders and responsible brands to their communities in the Middle East.

OCApp and UniApp of network universities released on both Android and iOS platforms, will serve more than 180,000 students in Jordan during 2014, according to Haitham Hawashin, founder of On Campus: “Students now can get access to their academic status, grades, study plans, campus activities and announcements. In addition to being connected and informed instantly on various volunteering and youth development opportunities, internships, jobs, daily social feeds, events, special offers and promotions from the private sector."
