Freeze organizer's account, cops to bank

GURGAON: While the mastermind of the cancelled Gurgaon Fashion Week 2014 remains missing, police conducted a raid at his DLF Phase 5 flat on Saturday. The flat in Trinity Towers, where Rohan Verma lived with his family on rent, was however locked.
Police have also asked Canara Bank to freeze Verma's account, the number of which was given to the participating fashion designers for security deposit.
The account is with the bank's DLF Phase 3 branch near Nathupur. "The balance in the bank account was not much," said an investigating officer.
The organizers of Gurgaon Fashion Week 2014 have cheated over a dozen designers out of Rs 10 lakh by cancelling the show before its opening on April 17. An FIR was lodged against Verma and others under sections 406 and 420 of the IPC with the Civil Lines police station.
The preliminary police probe has found that Verma, 32, lived with his wife and a daughter in the Trinity Towers flat. Rohan's father Rajeev Verma lived separately.
Ashwairya, one of Verma's close associates who purportedly looked after his online business, has not been found yet. Cops suspect she could be his wife. "We are exploring all possibilities," said the investigating officer.
Police commissioner Alok Mittal said that all efforts are being made to trace the accused.
