Aaron Harang threw no-hit ball for seven innings on 121 pitches before Luis Avilan gave up David Wright’s two-out single in the eighth as the Atlanta Braves beat the Mets, 6-0, Friday night in New York.

Harang (3-1) worked around six walks, including two in the sixth inning and another pair in the seventh before leaving for a pinch hitter in a long four-run eighth.

Harang struck out five, fanning Andrew Brown with runners at first and second with his final pitch, protecting a 1-0 lead.

Jordan Walden completed the combined one-hitter.

Freddie Freeman hit his fifth homer, a two-run shot in the eighth.

Rays 11, Yankees 5 — James Loney drove in four runs and Tampa Bay overcame a four-run deficit to beat New York in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Pinch hitter Desmond Jennings had an RBI single before Loney’s two-run single off Adam Warren (0-1) in the seventh inning gave Tampa Bay a 6-5 lead.

Sean Rodriguez hit a two-run homer during a five-run eighth that made it 11-5. Wil Myers, who finished with three RBIs, added a two-run single.

Marlins 8, Mariners 4 — Giancarlo Stanton’s grand slam with none out in the ninth inning helped host Miami take advantage of an overturned call to beat Seattle.

Reed Johnson was called out on a force play following a bunt, but the umpires reviewed the ruling and determined third baseman Kyle Seager had juggled the ball.

Reds 4, Cubs 1 — Alfredo Simon lowered his ERA to 0.86, and Cincinnati won for the 16th time in 17 games at Wrigley Field.

Simon (2-1) allowed an unearned run in six-plus innings and dealt the Cubs their fifth straight loss. Jonathan Broxton pitched a hitless ninth for his second save.

Jeff Samardzija (0-2) gave up three runs — one earned — and six hits in seven innings, with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Nationals 3, Cardinals 1 — Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina’s throwing error combined with Michael Wacha’s wild pitch to allow two unearned runs in the seventh inning, breaking a tie and helping host Washington beat St. Louis.

Gio Gonzalez (3-1) allowed one run and four hits in seven innings, retiring the last 11 batters he faced. He finished with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Angels 11, Tigers 6 — Albert Pujols hit his 497th career home run and Howie Kendrick added two homers to lead Los Angeles to victory in Detroit.

The Angels chased Tigers starter Drew Smyly (1-1) after three innings and added seven runs off reliever Luke Putkonen.

Royals 5, Twins 0 — Jason Vargas (2-0) allowed seven hits while striking out four over seven innings, Mike Moustakas cracked a two-run homer, and Kansas City Royals blanked visiting Minnesota.

Alcides Escobar had three hits and Omar Infante also drove in two runs.

Rangers 12, White Sox 0 — Martin Perez pitched a three-hitter for his first career shutout, Leonys Martin drove in four, and Texas routed Chicago in Arlington.

Perez (3-0) retired his last 12 batters and struck out eight.

Brewers 5, Pirates 3 — Kyle Lohse (3-1) pitched into the seventh inning, Carlos Gomez homered and added an RBI single, and Milwaukee won at Pittsburgh.

Lohse allowed three runs (one earned), four hits, and three walks. He fanned five.

Rockies 12, Phillies 1 — Troy Tulowitzki hit a three-run home run in the second inning after Carlos Gonzalez was intentionally walked in front of him, Tyler Chatwood pitched seven strong innings, and Colorado trounced Philadelphia in Denver.

Blue Jays 3, Indians 2 — Sergio Santos retired Michael Brantley on a hard grounder with the bases loaded in the ninth inning to close out Toronto’s win in Cleveland.

Melky Cabrera had four hits and scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning.

Padres 2, Giants 1 — Tyson Ross held San Francisco to four hits and struck out nine in eight scoreless innings as host San Diego dealt Matt Cain his third straight loss.

A’s 11, Astros 3 — Alberto Callaspo hit a three-run homer in a seven-run first inning to help host Oakland back Sonny Gray’s strong pitching with a rout of Houston.
