She minds Ps and Qs of cooking
LUDHIANA: Misha Gupta, 21, a resident of Maya Nagar, discovered her passion for the culinary arts in her teens. There has been no stopping her since. She has been collecting recipes from cookery shows, recipe books, cooking classes and magazines. Today, there are more than 100 recipes in her collection.
"I developed an interest in cooking in my school days after I cooked a few dishes in kitchen and was praised by everybody.
I keep adding recipes to my collection. I have a mentor in my tayi ji (aunt) and I keep discussing recipes with her," she said.
Besides the taste element, Misha also takes table etiquette seriously. She has different kinds of glasses and keeps herself updated with different styles of table setting. "I am fond of collecting different glasses. I love wine glasses, flute, champagne, goblets, cold coffee glasses and beer glasses. Also, I pay attention to table setting. Whenever I lay a table, I make sure we have quarter plates, forks, spoons, knives and napkins. Even if no one is using it, I like to keep the table formal," said Misha.
Misha prefers to make Indian food for the main course and keeps mocktails, snacks, salads and deserts for later. "Whenever there is a special occasion like a birthday, I cook a complete course starting from mocktails followed by snacks, lunch and dessert. I also add a drink to go with the main course," she said.
In the summer, her friends and family look up to her for delicious Swiss rolls and frozen ice-cream rolls. Misha prefers to use olive oil over desi ghee to keep her food both delicious and healthy.
